Clean swaps

How we upgrade the restaurant version with better ingredients.

  • Canola or Vegetable oil (typical restaurant) → Avocado oil — Avoids inflammatory industrial seed oils.
  • Processed American cheese → Organic Sharp Cheddar — Eliminates emulsifiers, stabilizers, and artificial dyes.
  • Artificial flavoring/powdered seasonings → Whole spices and garlic — Uses real food sources instead of chemically derived flavorings.

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400F (200C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the potato cubes with avocado oil, sea salt, garlic powder, and smoked paprika until evenly coated.
  3. Spread potatoes on the baking sheet and roast for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crisp.
  4. While potatoes roast, brown the ground beef and diced onion in a skillet over medium heat until meat is fully cooked; drain any excess fat.
  5. Season the meat mixture with cumin and additional salt to taste.
  6. Spread half of the roasted potatoes onto a large platter, top with the seasoned meat mixture, and sprinkle generously with organic cheddar cheese.
  7. Place the platter back in the oven for 2-3 minutes just until the cheese begins to melt.
  8. Whisk together the sauce ingredients in a small bowl and drizzle over the finished dish before serving.
