Clean swaps
How we upgrade the restaurant version with better ingredients.
- granulated sugar → Organic Coconut Sugar — Commercial recipes use highly refined white sugar; coconut sugar provides a lower glycemic index and a richer molasses flavor.
- all-purpose flour → Organic Sprouted Grain Flour — Standard all-purpose flour is often bleached and stripped of nutrients; sprouted grain adds fiber and prevents blood sugar spikes.
- semisweet chocolate chips → Organic Dark Chocolate Chunks — Mass-produced chocolate chips frequently contain palm oil, hydrogenated oils, and soy lecithin.
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
- Beat in vanilla extract and eggs one at a time until well blended.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until cookies are golden around the edges and soft in the center.
