Clean swaps

How we upgrade the restaurant version with better ingredients.

  • granulated sugar → Organic Coconut Sugar — Commercial recipes use highly refined white sugar; coconut sugar provides a lower glycemic index and a richer molasses flavor.
  • all-purpose flour → Organic Sprouted Grain Flour — Standard all-purpose flour is often bleached and stripped of nutrients; sprouted grain adds fiber and prevents blood sugar spikes.
  • semisweet chocolate chips → Organic Dark Chocolate Chunks — Mass-produced chocolate chips frequently contain palm oil, hydrogenated oils, and soy lecithin.

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in vanilla extract and eggs one at a time until well blended.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing well after each addition.
  6. Stir in chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until cookies are golden around the edges and soft in the center.
